he has the best voice in modern metal and hard rock. That's indisputable right now. He can do everything from chaotic and crushing guttural growls to carrying melodies from hell past heaven. Moreover, he continues to deliver at every turn. So, to close out the year, ARTISTdirect.com editor in chief Rick Florino broke down Corey Taylor's best acoustic songs from both Slipknot and Stone Sour. Check out the list below! The Top Five Corey Taylor Acoustic Songs 5. "Circle" This mid-point of Slipknot's Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses is one of the legendary band's most haunting and hypnotic moments. Taylor carries an entrancing melody over a softly strummed acoustic guitar and blips of Radiohead-esque soundscape peeking through the darkness. It's one of Slipknot's most powerful yet subdued songs and Taylor's strongest acoustic moments. 4. "The Travelers Pt. 1" "The Travelers Pt. 1" nods to Pink Floyd with its airy elegance and transfixing acoustic guitar. However, Taylor takes it down his own path punctuated by his captivating lyrics and a bluesy lead. It's an example of why The House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1 is one of the decade's best rock records. 3. "Bother" This was the first time the world got to really hear him sing over an acoustic. Originally on the Spider-Man soundtrack and then Stone Sour's self-titled debut, it's one of those stripped-down anthems that will resound for generations. It'll always be a fan favorite as well. 2. "Vermilion Pt. 2" Another high point of Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, this will be remembered as their most painful and poetic moment. The sense of longing that Taylor conveys over the classically influenced acoustic guitar resounds palpably. This really might be Slipknot's truly heaviest moment. 1. "Through Glass" From Stone Sour's masterpiece Come What(ever) May, "Through Glass" is one of Taylor's finest compositions ever and a true acoustic gem. It's so powerful it never leaves your head, and it illuminates just what a dynamic songwriter he is belonging in the pantheon with the likes of Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, and Jerry Cantrell for the genre.
